to Hampden was read 1st and 2nd time and tomorrow at 11 oclock assigned for a 3rd reading

Ordered that the Committee on the Valuation be instructed to report to this House as soon as possible whether an enlargement of said Committee would facilitate their business or whether Clerks may be usefully employed - sent up for concurrence

On motion of Mr Smith of Portland

  Ordered that the Secretary of State be requested to communicate to this House a Statement of the expenditures herefore made by this State for roads and Bridge and the quality of land appropriated therefore specifying the several works where located, the quantity of land appropriated for each and the sums of money expended on each sent up for concurrence

On motion of Mr Boutelle of Watervile

  Ordered that the Governor be requested to send to this House the proceedings of the executive department in relation to the accounts of Daniel Rose Esq late land agent since the 1st day of April 1830 - read and passed

Ordered that the Senate be requested to take from their files the Petition of manassah Lawrence and others and send the same to this House

Ordered that the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of altering the act and provide for the education of youth so as to define with particularity what branches schoolmasters shall be competent to teach in primary schools sent up for concurrence
