�12 and put our horses aboard of the cars. and started for Hancock ta 3 oclock in the afternoon. arrived at Martinsburg. 20 miles from harpers Ferry. at sunset. stoped there abought 1 hour started again ,arrived at Hancock at 11 oclock at night. unloaded our horses from the cars. carried. our bagage to the place where we was to camp for the night. by the time we got all things right it was 3 oclock in the morning. we then cample down and got alittle rest April 5th This morning we got up and took care of our horses. got breakfirst and then we pitched our tents and cleaned up things. part of our company is quartered in the tents. and the rest of them is quartered in a large two story brick building. that formily belonged to a rebel who is now a Colonel in the rebel army. his property is coficecated[?] and belongs to the United States Government We are quartered at present on the Baltimore and Ohio Rail Road. and we are Encamped within 40 rods of the Potomac river. on a very pretty entervale. April 6th we did not do enything to day. we was poretty tired. and it is a very warm day. and it makes us feel lazy
