Report on Petition of William Pope and others - - of certain Inhabitants of Portland - of Selectmen of Solon - granting leave to withdraw - were severally read and accepted in concurrence with the Senate.

Ordered - that the Committee on change of Names be instructed to provide for the change of the name of John Heddean of Bath in the county of Lincoln agreeably to his petition presented to the last Legislature - and that they be also instructed to consider the expediency of changing the name of John Hayden of said Bath to William Heddean as it was originally - the change having been made by mistake and without his knowledge or consent - and that they make provision accordingly -

An order came from the Senate instructing the Committee on the Judiciary to inquire and whether the Valuation Committee have a right to include in their estimate of the taxable property of the several towns and counties in this State, lands ceded to the United States, Sheep and lands sold to an individual or individuals or to corporations by this State - the State of Massachusetts - and by Literary Institutions - but not conveyed by deed - which order was read and passed in concurrence with the Senate.
