80 Report on the Petition of James Rangely, referring the same to the Committee on Finance, was read and accepted - sent up for concurrence -

A Communication was received from the clerk of the Courts in Somerset County in compliance with an order of the 12th instant which was read and on motion laid upon the table -

Mr Bronson moved the following order, Ordered, that the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to enquire into the expediency of requesting all Judicial Officers whose term of office is limited to seventy years, , now in office to file in the Secretary of States Office, and of requiring of all person who may hereafter be appointed to any Judicial Office the term of which is limited to seventy years to file a certificate under Oath of their ages in the Secretary of States Office, previous to their receiving their Commissions and Report to this House by Resolve or otherwise - which upon motion was laid upon the table

Ordered that the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of so allowing the law which requires towns to tax all property owned on the first day of may - so that hereafter all property owned on the first day of April shall be taxable and the Inventory thereof to be taken in the month of April instead of May - sent up for concurrence -

On Motion of Mr Pierce of Gorham - Ordered that the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of making members of Mutual Fire Insurance Companies competent witnesses in actions brought against said Companies by individuals for losses by Fire - with leave to report by Bill or otherwise - sent up for concurrence -
