On motion of Mr. Soule, Ordered that the Committee on the Militia be requested to inquire into the expediency of purchasing a piece of land in the town of Freeport for the location of a gun house - and report by bill or otherwise - sent up for concurrence.
An order came from the Senate for concurrence instructing the Committee on the Judiciary to consider the expediency of establishing by law an uniform mode of calling the first meetings of new corporations for their organization and the House concurred.
On motion of Mr. Fisk, Ordered, that the Senate be requested to take from their files the petition of J.B. Harvey and others for aid in making a road and send the same to this House.
Report granting leave of absence to Mr. Bodwell of Shapleigh after tomorrow during the remainder of the session was read and accepted.
Petition of the County Commissioners of Kennebec, that certain sums paid several years ago by the Treasurer of said county into the State Treasury may be refunded, was read and referred to the Committee on Claims. Sent up for concurrence.
Petition of Selectmen of Perry that the annual pension of Joseph Francis, Governor of the Passamaquoddy Tribe of Indians may be under the direction of their Agent was read and referred to a Select Committee of the House consisting of Messrs. Gallison, Miller and Cary. Petition
