42 Tuesday January 7th 1834 Met according to adjournment The Committee on Elections to whom was referred the credentials of Members made a report which was read and accepted. The Committee on Engrossed Bills report as duly Engrossed Bill to incorporate the Portland Whale Fishing Company which was passed to be enacted sent up. On motion of Mr. Pierce of Turner Ordered that the Speaker of this House be authorized to permit any Religious society to hold religious meetings in the Representatives Hall on Sunday during the present session of the Legislature, provided such Society apply therefor two days previous to the time of holding said meeting - read and passed. On motion of Mr. Dumont of Hallowell Ordered that the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to enquire into the expediency of abolishing all usury laws with leave to report by Bill or otherwise read and passed sent up for concurrence. Mr. Scribner of Topsham appeared presented his credentials and qualified and took his seat.
