Thursday January 10. 1833.

On motion of Mr Keith, Ordered that the vote whereby the Report of the Joint Select Committee, appointed to employ a Draftsman was accepted, was reconsidered.

Order from the House of Representatives instructing the Joint Standing Committee on the Judiciary to enquire whether any, and if any, what alteration it is expedient to make in the law determining the qualification of persons who shall be entitled to vote in the choice of town officers and in other town affairs, to report by Bill or otherwise; passed in concurrence.

Order from the House of Representatives directing the Joint Standing Committee on Literature and Literary Institutions to enquire into the expediency of so amending the third section of the Act entitled "an Act to provide for the education of Youth" approved March 15, 1821 as to provide for the choice in such town and plantation of a Superintending School Committee, consisting of not less than three persons, one of whom shall be chosen by ballot, and who shall act as Chairman, the Chairman to be charged with the duty of examining School Masters and Mistresses proposing to teach school therein, and also to provide for the enforcement of powers of said Committee to direct what school books shall be used in the respective schools. Read and passed in concurrence.
