I hearby Certify [phrase all in bold], That Thomas Hersey of Minot Maine, a Soldier of Captain Timothy Luddens Company of Lt Infantry in the Detachment commanded by Bob Onison Ripley of the drafted Militia of Maine, was born in Abington in the State of Massachusetts is aged thirty four years, 5 feet and 71/2 inches high, light complexion, blue eyes, dark hair, and by profession, when called into actual services by the State of Maine for the protection of its Northeastern Frontier, a farmer. He was called into actual service by the order of the Governor of Maine, and rendezvoused at Augusta Maine, on the sixth day of March A.D. 1839, being drafted from Captain Beryl Jenkins Company of Lt Infantry in the third Regiment, first Brigade, and sixth Division of the Militia of Maine, and then residing at Minot in said State; and having faithfully and honestly served the period required, is now entitled to an honorable discharge.
