A communication was received from Roscoe G. Greene, signifying his acceptance of the office of Secretary of State. Read and sent down.
Petition of the Inhabitants of the town of Deer Isle praying for the removal of the courts from Castine to Bluehill, came up from the House, referred to the Committee on the Division and Alteration of Counties, the House nonconcurring the Senate in the reference to the Committee on Incorporation of Towns. The Senate recede from their former vote so far as to refer the same to the Committee on Division and Alteration of Counties in concurrence.
Mr. Cogswell laid upon the table, Bill providing for the further limitation of certain actions, which was read and ordered to lie on the table.
