Message from the Governor [see appendix page 14] transmitting a Report & resolutions adopted by the Legislature of South Carolina on the subject of Domestic Slavery & came from the Senate referred to Messrs Jarvis, Johnson & Greene with such as the House may join - the House concurred with such as the House may join - the house concurred & messrs McIntire of Parsonsfield, Scammon of Pittston, Tobin of Hartford, Richardson of Portland, Fletcher of Thomaston, Lake of Bucksport, Foster of Pembroke, Wilson of Bingham, Adams of Lincoln & Gordon of Belfast were joined & 500 copies ordered to be printed.

On motion by Mr Holmes of Winthrop,

Ordered, that so much of the Governors Message as relates to Silkworms &c be instructed to enquire into the expediency of passing an act or resolve granting a bounty upon mulberry trees and also upon cocoons raised within the State. Sent up for concurrence.

On motion by Mr Purvis of Buckfield Ordered that the committee on Public Buildings be instructed to consider the expediency of laying a stone walk from the gate in front of the State House to the north line of the State lot and ascertain the probable expense of the same. Sent up for concurrence.

On motion of Smith of Westbrook Ordered that the committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of providing by law for the equal distribution of property assigned for the benefit of creditors. Sent up for concurrence.
