224. Petition of inhabitants of Bingham in behalf of Josiah Bean for pecuniary aid on account of injuries received - read and referred to the Committee on Claims, in concurrence.

Petition of M.D. Fish and others, Female Citizens of Alfred, praying for the abolition of the traffic in ardent spirits - read and referred to the Committee that have that subject under consideration, in concurrence.

Petition of Mary E. Cutter and other Female Citizens of Warren praying for the abolition of the traffic in ardent spirits - read and referred to the Committee that have that subject under consideration. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

On motion of Mr. Chandler, Ordered, that there be taken from the files of the Senate of last year a Resolve in favor of Ichabod Bucknam and that the same be referred to the Committee on Claims - read and passed. And the said Resolve was taken from the files and referred to the Committee on Claims. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

A message was received from the House of Representatives that they had, on their part, elected Greenlief White of Augusta Major General of the second Division to fill the vacancy occasioned by the resignation of Major General Alfred Marshall and requesting the concurrence of the Senate.
