Bill to incorporate the Damariscotta Steam Navigation Company (reported by Mr. Miller from the Committee on Interior Waters, on petition of James S. Waters and others) read once and Friday next at ten o'clock assigned for a second reading.

Bill to change the name of the Maine Granite Company (laid on the table by Mr. Jewett) was read twice and passed to be engrossed. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

Bill additional respecting, Bridges was taken up. Mr. Fish moved to nonconcur the House in the indefinite postponement of said Bill and insist on the vote passing the same to be appointed; and the question to insist and appoint Conferees, being ordered to be taken yeas and nays, was decided in the affirmative, as follows, to wit; Yeas. Messrs. Fish, Kelsey, Lathan, Merrow, Miller, Purrington, Spear, Staples, Strickland, Swift + Talbot 11. Nays. Messrs. Benson, Frye, Greene, Jarvis, McIntire, Pierce, Robinson, Severance and Weeks 9. And Messrs. Fish, Merrow and Severance were appointed Conferees on the part of the Senate. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred and Messrs. Foster of Pembroke, Eastman of Strong and Cram of New Sharon were appointed Conferees on the part of the House.

Bill to establish a Seminary for the purpose of promoting useful learning and the better qualifying Primary School Teachers (reported in new draft by Mr. Purrington from the Committee on Literature and Literary Institutions, to which said Bill had been recommitted) was read once and ordered, on motion of
