38 Execution of 5 deserters

26th No drill. Orders came that every man that was not excused by the surgeon must go to see the five convicted deserters shot. The execution of the five deserters is postponed till the 29th inst.

27th Nothing but drill for two days.

29th The whole corps assembled to witness the execution of five deserters at 4 o'clock P.M. It was a horrid sight, and one that will long be remembered.

30th A regimental inspection at 8 o'clo-ck A.M. Devine service at 5 o'c P.M.

31st We are mustered for pay at 9 A.M.
