116 Death of A. J. York

Wm D King returned from Maine on a furlough. We have official notice of the death of Corpl Fred J Davis of our company. He died at Annapolis Maryland while at the dinner table. The cause of his death was exposure and starvation in a rebel prison pen. He had just been parolled and sent north but was to weak to recover.

9th We graded our Co Street. It looks like a storm tonight.

10th It rained verry hard all the forenoon. A squad of men was detailed to out foraging but did not go on the account of rain. Rained untill 5 oclock P.M. It then began to blow, and looked like clearing off.

11th Clear and windy, but soon lulled away

12th Corpl C W Proctor [Charles W Proctor] returned from hospital

13th Sargt A J York [Andrew J York] of my company died at the depot hospital 5th of my corps. City Point Va Jan 3 1865

14th A fair day. All quiet along the lines.
