a brother of mine, wants to be the Quartermaster Sergeant. He is abundantly competent for the place having been for some time chief clerk in F.M. Sabine's store, and I should like to have him receive the appointment.
A.S. Packard Jr of Brunswick wants the place of Hospital Steward. The surgeon recommends, I believe, but I mention him here.
The above frees my mind & conscience, & as I suppose the appointments will be made when Col. Ames comes I rush to place in your hand whatever I have to suggest in the nature.
