My Dear General,
The friends of Asa Wilson in this town are desirous to be informed as to his condition, whether dead or alive or wounded or prisoner. He was or is in the 2nd maine Regiment. His friends here do not know the name of the Co. or rather the letter of the Co., nor do they know the location of the Regiment, nor the mode of obtaining information as to said Wilson. It has been reported here that he is [?] - Your correspondence must be perfectly overwhelming, yet knowing your working power and politeness I will not hesitate to communicate with you.
