[note to side: W.H. Sargent Sargentville, Sept. 24]

[note on top: He must be elected.]

Sargentville Sept 24th 1862 Honored Sir.

              I came from Camp Pope

yesterday Capt Bickford and officers of his company were anxious that I should assist them in having Alonso K. Mirrick of Com B of Regt M V appointed in some capacity their Com that they might have the benefit of his long experience and superior ability Capt Bickford would be glad to appoint him Ordy [Orderly] Serg if it would be proper to do so. Nothing would be more gratifying to Mr Mirrick friends than to have him in some way remembered and every one that knows him would give a hearty amen to any favor that might be shown him altho his wound (in his left arm) incapacitates him for carrying his musket he could at once enter upon the duties of drill officer. Very Respectfully Yours

                    William H. Sargent
