Dear Sir Capt. Hoss got home last night. You recollect that J.C. Quimby, who was two years in your employ, went to the war in Co. K. 2nd Regt, [?] Sargent his good conduct has won for him the respect of all who know him.
He has been in all the battles in which the 2nd Regt has been engaged and he is a brave soldier and efficient officer [?] was next in command at the time that Capt. Hoss was wounded and has had command of the company since Capt Hoss has resigned and [?] stands
