91[written in upper right corner] Gen. Hodsdon, Dear Sir, Since I last reported to you I have been appointed Conductor on the Y. & C. Railroad. I have been on the road about a week, & have been so fully occupied with my new duties that I have not been able to do much at this business. Now I have got settled[word underlined], I shall have about three or four hours every day in Portland to look up the men there. I have reported almost all my men except those in Portland, and I think if you can give me a little more time I can soon finish up. I wish to do just as you think best about it. If you wish me to go on, I will get through as soon as possible, & make my bill all right[two words underlined], or, if you think more dispatch necessary, I would have you employ some one else. Please drop me a line as soon as convenient & believe me obediently yours, HCousens.
