[page 237] Q. Was that one reason for which you were discharged, because you would not report cases that it was your duty to report? A. Not that I know of Dr. Harlow, when he discharged me, said I was discharged for disobeying one of the rules and regulations of the institution. Q. Is that a part of the rules and regulations of the institution, to your knowledge, that you were to report cases of cruelty? A. I might have read it. I don't remember whether I ever did. Q. Did you understand and know during that time when you saw that occurrence, if you did see it, that it was your duty to report it to the superior officers that it might be remedied and the attendant discharged? A. No, sir, I didn't; I didn't know I was required to. Q. And you didn't report it? A. No, sir, I didn't. Q. Have you any doubt, if you had reported it to Dr. Harlow, but that the attendant would have been discharged? Dr. Butler: I object to that. Mr. Pettangall: Those questions were allowed at our last session.
