[Report on Pay Roll] Committee on the Pay Roll of the House of Representatives-- report-- that they find the amount of Travel and attendance of the members to be ten thousand and seventy eight Dollars, and the additional pay of the Speaker, together with the pay of the Clerk, Assistant Clerk and Messenger, Doorkeeper and Page, to be three hundred ninety eight dollars and seventy five cents amounting in the whole to the sum of ten thousand four hundred and seventy six dollars and seventy five cents. Read and passed Sent up for concurrence.
[Vote of thanks to Speaker.] Mr Emery of Portland submitted a vote of thanks to the Speaker, in the following words-- "Before separation at this session the House of Representatives avail themselves of an opportunity to express their high estimation of the services of the Honorable [last two words struck through] Benjamin Ames Esqr in the arduous duties of the Chair. "They cordially thank him for his labors, his assiduity, and his happy mode of facilitating the progress of the important concerns, which have occupied the attention of this part of the Legislature. "Novel as the duty of his office was to him, and the business of Legislation to a great portion
