Duties--receive and transmit from the Secretary of State all books, documents and other objects of international exchange as may be directed to his care in pursuance of certain "resolves to promote mutual literary and scientific exchanges with foreign countries." Additional information--Governor with advice and consent. of Council appointed 'a suitable person, residing in Paris, France, as agent. Legislative History: R. 1844, c. 314. 2.09--Commissioners at Washington to Settle Claims against the Government of the United States. Created by R. 1855, c. 265. Duties--examine, prosecute and settle all claims which the State may have upon the U.S. government for lands set off to settlers under the 4th Article of the Treaty of Washington.
