Dear Wife

I seat myself on a stump this morning to pen you a few lines to let you know where we ar we was ordered to march last monday we started about noon and have been marching ever since till last night it rained all of the time and the mud was about one foot deep we had to wade in through in mud and water through the day then lay dow wherever night overtook us so when we got here last night we wer the worst looking set of men I ever saw or any body els we are going to stop here a while but do not know how long but hope we shall not move again very soon I stood the march much better than I expected to my feet and leggs swelled very bad I bought me a new pair of boots a few days before we started my feet swelled up so I could not geet my boots off for five days I do not know what I shall do with them but shall try
