Dear Sir

I take the liberty of writing a few lines to you to see if you won't help me out of my difficulty I am one of the old members of the Second Maine Regiment (and a member of Company A) I have been kept four months over my time and I would like to get my Discharge now and return home. I have lost my Father and oldest Brother since I have been in the service and I have now a mother and three brothers and sisters depending upon me for their support and I should like very much to get home to take care of them and if you can assist me to get my Discharge I shall be very
