Boston, January 30th 1864

Dear Sir,

I have made up my mind to get my discharge and reenlist again as I have been over two years in active service and been in eleven battles having been transferred to this Invalid Core [Corps] since my Regt was mustered out of the service. My Regt was the 2nd Maine I served honorably over 2 years I having recovered from the effects of my wounds am now anxious to enter the field again and think I am better qualified and would be of more service in the field than many new Recruits now going out my three years time of service will
