Dear Governor

Your last favor is just rec'd On account of disability (and for no other reason) I forwarded to Major Gardiner on the 18th inst my resignation. My physicians here tell me also Dr. Morrison that a continuance in the field during the coming winter might produce very serious results, and as active service alone suits me I have felt it my duty to take the above course.
