General It has been my misfortune to lose by capture of my private baggage at different times, both the commissions with which I have been honored by his excellency the Governor of Maine.
I respectfully request, that, if consistent with the rules of your office, you will forward to me new commissions of the proper dates, one as Major, one as Lt. Col.
