Dr. Butler: I desire to call attention to this fact, and have it go upon the record; that after the testimony that has been taken has been spread broadcast in three or four newspapers in this state, and having arrived at this point, we are forbidden to use the very latitude that has been taken in the whole investigation up to the present time. I call attention to that, for I desire it reported. Mr. Morrill: In answer to that I will simply say that the committee will not restrict you in the answers of witnesses to controvert what has gone out in the press and to which you refer. But let it be testimony which shall controvert that. I think that will cover the case exactly, Dr. Butler: I think this will commend itself to the public judgement.
