Data This report followed the PRISMA Statement. A total of 9 articles were included in review. Sources Two reviewers performed a literature search up to December 2018 in four databases PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus and SciELO. Study selection Controlled clinical trials and randomized controlled clinical trials conducted in human patients and published during the last 10 years in English were eligible to be selected. The articles should give detailed information about the results and treatment parameters. There were no limitations established in terms of the type of malocclusion to be corrected or the type of orthodontic treatment performed. Results The methodological quality and evidence of the selected studies was low. Most of the studies observed a statistically significant increase in the rate of dental movement, when performing alveolar corticotomies as coadjuvants of orthodontic treatment; either with the conventional technique or with piezocision. The effect of combining corticotomy with bone grafts was assessed. Conclusions High heterogeneity among studies made it difficult to draw clear conclusions. However, within the limitations of this review, the corticotomy procedures were able to statistically and clinically produce significant temporary decrease in orthodontic tooth movement rate. This technique does not seem to involve major complications compared to conventional orthodontic treatments. Clinical relevance The use of this technique can reduce treatment time and therefore the undesirable effects associated with prolonged treatments.This study considers the presence of a gender gap in technical efficiency in Ghana's cocoa production sector. The two-stage double bootstrap data envelopment analysis (DEA) procedure was applied to estimate the bias-corrected technical efficiency scores for male and female cocoa farm managers. The results indicate that there is a potential for male and female cocoa farm managers to increase output without altering the quantities of inputs employed. Applying the extended version of the Blinder-Oaxaca (B-O) decomposition approach, the findings suggest that female plot managers are, on average, less technically efficient compared to their male counterparts. This gap could be linked to differences in their resource endowments. Nevertheless, there are still significant unobservable factors that contribute to the gender efficiency gap. The study recommends that female-sensitive programmes that seek to encourage the participation of non-farm activities and provide access to education and land utilization are essential in reducing the gender gap in technical efficiency.This study investigated the effect of methanolic leaf extract of Peristrophe Bicalyculata (MEPb) on type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) associated cognitive decline in Wistar rats. 36 male rats weighing 130-200 g were assigned into 6 groups (n = 6) as follows normal control, diabetic control, pioglitazone-treated diabetic and three MEPb-treated diabetic groups, type 2 diabetes mellitus was induced with low dose streptozocin (STZ) injection following 3 weeks of high fat diet (HFD) intake. Thirty days after diabetes induction, rats exhibited marked and persistent hyperglycemia, animals were treated with MEPb (50, 100 and 200 mg/kg) and pioglitazone (10 mg/kg) as standard. Morris water maze (MWM) test and Novel object recognition test (NORT) were used to assess learning and memory. Blood glucose level, oxidative stress makers, pro-inflammatory marker and acetylcholinestarase activities were analysed. Our study investigates a new model that specifies the external-factors-led growth hypothesis for the South African economy. The independent variables include trade openness, external debt, FDI and exchange rate against GDP as the targeted variable. The ARDL approach was adopted after achieving a mixed order of integration from the stationarity test using traditional unit root tests. All external factors were found to exert a positive influence on economic expansion. Trade openness and exchange rate specifically, exert significant influence on economic growth, which means that an improvement in these factors will proportionately favour economic expansion. In essence, a 1% improvement in trade openness and exchange rate will generate an equivalent of 0.30% and 0.19% increase in GDP in the long-run. On average, trade openness, exchange rate and external loan are beneficial to the economy of South Africa. Thus, recommend the need for the authority concern to open more line of bilateral trade to enable the economy to fully tap from the benefits accrued from indulging in economic openness.The standards of development and life quality of cities play an important role in the investment and career planning of the investors and the qualified people who will work in R&D and Technoparks. Also, all the leading cities in the world are the most developed cities in the regions and countries in terms of R&D and innovation. Therefore, all cities in Turkey are compared by using the R&D investment data and TurkStat "Quality of Life Index for Cities". The criteria are weighted by the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP). Then 81 cities are compared with the TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) method. The article aims to provide information about the current situation of Turkey's cities regarding R&D, Technology Development Zones and quality of life. According to the results, the quality of life and socio-economic development has a very close relationship with the existence of R&D investments. If the current development policy continues, the regions with low quality of life will continue to lag behind the other cities in terms of development.
