The number of mitotic figures (≥3) per 200 cells was the only parameter that showed a significant but weak, positive correlation with histologic grade (rs = .469; P = .032). No Grade I tumors had ≥3 mitotic figures per 200 cells; however, ≥3 mitotic figures per 200 cells were only observed in 33% of Grade II tumors and 50% (one out of two) of the Grade III tumors. This pilot study suggests that an increased number of mitotic figures seen on cytology might correlate with higher grade STS; however, the sensitivity of this parameter for grading STS appears to be low.

Hand eczema (HE) has increased among healthcare workers (HCWs) working in coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) units, and was associated with increased hand hygiene practices.

To compare the prevalence and clinical characteristics of HE, and hand hygiene practices in HCWs working in COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 units.

A total of 244 HCWs working in COVID-19 (n = 118) and non-COVID-19 patient care units (n = 126) were examined by dermatologists with regard to demographic parameters and hand hygiene practices. The COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 groups were matched at a 11 ratio according to age, atopy, and generalized dry skin.

HE was more frequent in the COVID-19 group (48.3% vs 12.7%, P < .001), whereas working years (P < .05) and additional housework at home (P < .001) were longer in the non-COVID-19 group. After the development of HE, moisturizing creams were reported to be more frequently used in the COVID group (P < .001). Topical corticosteroids were used in a minority (40% in the COVID group and 26.7% in the non-COVID group).

HCWs in COVID-19 units developed HE more frequently. A majority increased the frequency of moisturizer use, instead of using topical corticosteroids, after the development of HE for the purpose of treating eczema. New approaches are needed for the prevention and management of HE in HCWs, especially by facilitating access to dermatologists.

Furry animals are an important source of indoor allergens. Diagnosis of allergy to small pets such as guinea-pigs still relies on animal dander extracts which do not allow to define the primary sensitization source.

To identify major guinea-pig allergens and to evaluate their potential as marker allergens for in vitro IgE-diagnosis in comparison with dander extracts.

A group of patients allergic to guinea-pig (n=29) and a group of patients allergic to cat and dog (n=30) were recruited for the study. A panel of four guinea-pig lipocalin allergens was expressed as recombinant proteins in E.coli. Specific IgE were quantified by ImmunoCAP and ELISA.

The combination of 4 guinea-pig lipocalin allergens, including 2 new lipocalins, Cav p 1.0201 and Cav p 6.0101, and the previously characterized lipocalins Cav p 2 and Cav p 3, enabled the identification of 90% of all patients allergic to guinea-pig. The vast majority had specific IgE to Cav p 1 (83%). Cav p 6 shares 54% sequence identity with Fel d 4 and Can rgy to small furry pets.

To develop a methodology for probing lipid droplet sizes with a clinical system based on a diffusion-weighted stimulated echo-prepared turbo spin-echo sequence and to validate the methodology in water-fat emulsions and show its applicability in ex vivo adipose-tissue samples.

A diffusion-weighted stimulated echo-prepared preparation was combined with a single-shot turbo spin-echo readout for measurements at different b-values and diffusion times. The droplet size was estimated with an analytical expression, and three fitting approaches were compared magnitude-based spatial averaging with voxel-wise residual minimization, complex-based spatial averaging with voxel-wise residual minimization, and complex-based spatial averaging with neighborhood-regularized residual minimization. Simulations were performed to characterize the fitting residual landscape and the approaches' noise performance. WH-4-023 supplier The applicability was assessed in oil-in-water emulsions in comparison with laser deflection and in ten human white adlogy was able to probe restricted diffusion effects in lipid droplets. The methodology was validated using phantoms, and its feasibility in measuring an apparent lipid droplet size was demonstrated ex vivo in white adipose tissue. The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate an online relational intimacy and sexual enhancement (iRISE) intervention for couples experiencing sexual difficulties following breast cancer (BC). The acceptability of iRISE was evaluated using a single-arm, qualitative design, with 14 couples completing satisfaction surveys and posttreatment interviews. The intervention was found to be acceptable, as demonstrated by high satisfaction ratings and qualitative feedback regarding iRISE and its online delivery. Couples spoke about the helpfulness of iRISE and how the intervention improved their sexual relationship. The use of video conferencing (eTherapy) was widely accepted by participants, who highlighted several advantages of this modality. Overall, the results support the acceptability of this online psychosexual intervention for couples affected by BC. The empirical and theoretical basis for the design of iRISE along with findings from a qualitative analysis of couples' experiences of the intervention's helpfulness to them is discussed.

The goal of head and neck cancer surgery is the complete resection of tumor with a cuff of healthy tissue. A 5-mm margin is optimal but not always achievable in the oropharynx. We aimed to identify a consensus of definition and management of close margins for human papilloma virus (HPV)-associated oropharyngeal cancer without other risk factors.

Descriptive survey METHODS A survey of the American Head and Neck Society (AHNS) was conducted to evaluate the abovementioned objectives by presenting hypothetical scenarios and asking questions regarding management.

One-hundred fifty-five AHNS members completed the survey (18% response rate). Close margins were defined as <5 mm, <3 mm, and <1 mm by 27.7%, 32.3%, and 32.3% of respondents. There was no significant difference in margin determination with experience level (P = .186). In an HPV-positive tumor with close margins, 51% chose postoperative observation. The remainder chose adjuvant radiation (22.6%), chemoradiation (1.9%), or re-excision of the wound bed (19.
