39 [Committees on Governors Message]

On motion of Mr Sprague of Hallowell,

[-punishment of convicts-] Ordered, that so much of the Governors message as relates to the punishment of convicts be referred to Messrs Sprague of Hallowell, Porter of Freeport and Bartlett of Bethel with such as the Senate may join with leave to report by Bill or otherwise Read and passed. Sent up for concurrence.

[-criminal prosecution-] Ordered, that so much of the Governors message as relates to costs in criminal prosecutions be referred to Messrs Thatcher of Warren, Ingalls of Denmark, and Goodwin of Brewer with such as the Senate may join with leave to report by Bill or otherwise. Read and passed. Sent up for concurrence.

[-laws of Massachusetts in force here-] Ordered, that so much of the Governors Message as relates to the Laws enacted by the Legislature of Massachusetts which are in force in this State & have not been revised be referred to Messrs Williams of Augusta, O.Brien of Machias and Wilkins of Norway, with such as the Senate may join with leave to report by Bill or otherwise. Read and Passed. Sent up for concurrence.

[-Laws of Massachusetts-] Ordered, that so much of the Governors message as relates to the claims of Massachusetts and Maine against the United States be referred to Messrs Dunlap of Brunswick, Ireland of Canaan and Flint of New Vineyard with such as the Senate may join with leave to report by Bill or otherwise.
