[Resolution to pay Militia, offered & rejected -] Mr. Hall of Buckfied offered the following Resolution for the consideration of the House viz, Resolved That the inhabitants of the several Towns and Plantations within this State qualified to vote for Governor be required to give in their votes at their next annual meeting to be holden on the second Monday of September next on the question "Shall the militia who are by law compelled to bear arms receive a reasonable compensation therefor to be paid out of the State Treasury; and the Selectmen of the several Towns and assessors of the plantations shall in open meeting receive sort count and declare and the Clerks thereof respectively shall record the votes given for and against the measure and the Clerks thereof respectively shall record the votes given in for and against the measure and the said Selectmen, Assessors and Clerks respectively shall make out an exact return there of under their hands and shall seal up and transmit the same to the next Legislature on or before the second Wednesday of their next session. Read and passage refused.
