[Justices jurisdiction] Order of the House that the Committee on the subject of the Circuit Court of Common Pleas be instructed to enquire into the expediency of extending the powers and jurisdiction of the Justices of the Peace as respect notes of hand and accounts, with leave to report by Bill or otherwise - came up for concurrence. Read and concurred.

[Report of Committee on unfinished business.] Mr. Dennett from the Committee appointed to consider what public business will be necessary to be acted upon the present session of the Legislature. Reported the following subjects as necessary to be acted upon, to wit

The punishment of State convicts. Costs in Criminal Prosecutions. Circuit Court of Common Pleas. The Claim of Massachusetts and Maine against the United States for Militia services in the late war. The Militia Law. The Resolutions of Maryland respecting the public lands belonging to the United States. - The Annual State Tax, and taxing sales at auction - The expediency of laying a tax on distilled spirits consumed within the State - The districting of the State for the choice of Representatives to Congress - and - The revisal of the several laws now in force in this State respecting poor debtors - and that the Legislature may have a recess on the first friday of February next.
