Governor of the State of Maine

the undersigned Republican voters of the town of Eastport, respectfully & earnestly request the appointment of Mr. George H[?] Welch of Perry as Agent for the Passamaquoddy tribe of Indians.

Mr. Welch by his prompt & correct business habits & integrity of character is [?] qualified to discharge the duties of said office & we believe his appointment would give more general satisfaction than that of any other man and thereby the state would secure the services of an honest and valuable officer.
