[Petitions committed to Committee on Incorporation of Towns] The following petitions read and committed in the House to the joint standing Committee on Incorporation of Towns came up for concurrence – to wit.
Petition of Benjamin Mantor and others of Anson, praying that the West part of said town be set off and annexed to the town of Industry –
Petition of the Town of Concord for restricting the boundaries of said town – also
Remonstrance of the Inhabitants of New Sharon against petitions for new County, by severance of Oxford &c. – also Memorial of the town of Machias against making Eastport a half shire town – also
Petition of Charles Pierce and others praying that part of plantation No. 2 which was erroneously taken into Concord be restored to said Plantation –
and they were severally read and committed to the same committee in concurrence with the House.
[Message respecting vacancy of M. General 1st Division] A message from the House by Mr. Child their Clerk
"Mr. President, The House of Representatives have assigned Wednesday next at 10 o'clock for the choice, on their part, of a Major General to fill the vacancy in the first division, occasioned by the death of General Frost."
Ordered that the Senate will proceed to the choice of a Major General of the first Division on Wednesday next at twelve o'clock – and that a nomination list be suspended in the mean time.
