Bangor April 27 1858

Hon Lot M Morrill, Governor, & to the Executive Council.

Gentlemen

Should a vacancy occur in the Office of Indian Agent I beg leave to recommend Frederic H. Dillingham Esqr of this city for that office.

I have been acquainted with him for twenty years & have done considerable business with him, & from my own observations & his general reputation, I consider him an entirely honest, & very correct & accurate business man, & I have no doubt he would do the duties of the office kindly towards the Indians, & faithfully & justly both to them & to the State.

Very Respectfully your Obdt. Servt.

Henry E. Prentiss
