State of Maine
To all who shall see these Presents,
Greeting:

Whereas the Commissioners, appointed under and by virtue of a law of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, entitled “An Act relation to the separation of the District of Maine from Massachusetts proper, and forming the same into a separate and independent State,” have, among other things, have divided and assigned to the State of Maine the ordnance, arms and military stores set out by Benjamin J. Porter and Silas Holman, according to a schedule signed by them, bearing date the seventeenth day of May last, and ratified by said Commissioners on the same day, as appears by their report, dated the twenty fifth day of May last: And whereas the Legislature of said Commonwealth have resolved that the Adjutant General be directed and required to deliver over to such person, as may be duly authorized by the State of Maine to receive the same, the ordnance, arms and military stores, assigned and set out as aforesaid, as appears by an official copy of said resolve on file in the office of our Secretary of State: Therefore, that the agreement of the two States, may, in this particular, be carried into effect,
Be it known, that I, Albion K. Parris, Governor of the said State of Maine, by and with the advice and consent of the Council, have appointed Samuel Cony, Esquire, our Adjutant General, to receive from the Adjutant General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, all the ordnance, arms and military stores, assigned and said out as aforesaid, in fulfilment [fulfillment] in this particular, of the agreement entered into by the Commissioners of the said States, as aforesaid. And the said Cony is hereby authorized, in behalf of the said State of Maine, to sign and execute all necessary receipts and discharges therefor.
