[1823] Senate January 13th 1823 [Message of the Governor] The Secretary of the State came in & laid upon the table a written message from the Governor, which was read and referred to the Joint Committee on do much of the Governor's message as relates to the claims assigned to this State by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, sent down for concurrence; came up concurred with an order that 300 copies of documents marked A & B be printed for use of the Legislature in which the Senate concurred.

[Pet. Jos. Lawrence et als] Petition of Joseph Lawrence, praying that certain land therein named may be included with the limits of the town of Jay, was read and committed to the Joint Standing Committee on Incorporation of Towns, sent down for concurrence; came up concurred.-

[Levi Thaxter] Petition of Levi Thaxter for authority to sell certain lands was read and committed to the Joint Standing Committee on New Trials. Sent down for concurrence. - came up concurred.

[Report Committee on punishment of Convicts &c] The committee appointed in the pursuance of a Resolve of the Legislature, passed February 2, 1822 for the purpose of collecting information and investigating the subject of the punishment of convicts and the establishment of a State Prison or Penitentiary, made a written, which was read and 400 copies ordered.
