To all persons to whom these presents shall come,
Greeting:

Whereas before our Supreme Judicial Court, begun and holden at Portland, within and for our County of Cumberland, on the first Tuesday of May, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and twenty three, Patrick Cole, of Brunswick, in our said County of Cumberland, Laborer, was convicted of the Crime of Manslaughter; and thereupon by our said Court was sentenced to be punished by three months solitary imprisonment, and to four years hard Labor, within the precincts of the State’s Gaol, in the County of Cumberland; a part of which sentence yet remains to be executed; and he the said Patrick Cole has humbly supplicated Us for mercy:
Now, Know Ye, That upon full consideration of the premises, We do hereby remit to him the said Patrick Cole, all that part of the punishment aforesaid, which yet remains to be executed, of which all our Judges, Justices, Magistrates, and Officers of every denomination are to take notice.
