�I Antwain Lashans of Orono in the County of Penobscot [NOTE: can not interpret word following "Penobscot"], do testify & say that in the month of September in the year that [Gen.] Arnold, with his army was of [Duebce} I inlisted as a private soldier in his army , in Capt.. Kimb[a]lls Company: Col [Servingstons] Regt.. Arnolds Brigade (I think) I joined my Regiment at the River [Shedone] : We were stationed on Abrams Plains We continued at this palce till about the month of January: when we marched to [Duchere]: I was in the action, in attempting to take it at the efeat, we returned back to Abrams Plains: which we [fortified]: We contined there till the month of June following when the English attacked + drove us off: I was taken Prisoner, [but] made my escape afterwards But our Army - in the mean time had marched off ina war towards [Moriall]. That I could not follow them: I served nearly ten months in this Company beside my imprisonment. During the course of the War the time forgotten I shipped a board the ship called the [Malbeck] ( or [same] such name ) Capt... Ross Commander: the [mounted] 26 guns: Was a Continental Ship as I suppose: As I Shipped for 8 dollars [per] month + went into what was called the Penobscot Expedition, under [Saltonstall]: I was on board this ship three months: I am now under [reduced] circumstances & need the assistance of my Country for support.
