State of Maine

To all Persons to whom these Presents shall come

Greeting:

Whereas, before our Supreme Judicial Court, begun and holden at Wiscasset, within and for the County of Lincoln, on the third tuesday of September, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty six, Nathaniel Pinkham of Gardiner, in our County of Kennebec, was convicted of the Crime of Larceny, and thereupon by our said Court was sentenced to be punished by solitary imprisonment for the term of twenty days, and by confinement to hard labor for the term of four years, in our State Prison situate in Thomaston in our County of Lincoln; and he the said Nathaniel Pinkham, has humbly supplicated Us for mercy.

Now Know Ye, That, upon full consideration of the premises, We do hereby remit to him the said Nathaniel Pinkham, that part of the punishment aforesaid which yet remains to be executed upon him in solitary confinement; of which all our Judges, Justices, Magistrates and Officers of every denomination are to take notice.

Witness, Jonathan G. Hunton, our Governor, with the advice and consent of our Council, and our Seal hereunto affixed at Portland the thirtieth day of June, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and thirty; and in the fifty fourth year of the Independence of the United States of America.
