62 Petition of Daniel Clark to be admitted to practise as an Attorney was read & referred to Messrs Fessender of Portland, Humphrey of Gray & Milliken of Lincolnville.

Bill in addition to an act entitled an act concerning Registers of Deeds was called up and referred to the committee who reported the same, with instructions to report a Bill providing for the registry of deeds during a vacancy in the office of Register in any County.

Reports - on petition of Thomas Miller & als on petition of Martin Sidelinger & als granting leave to withdraw came from the Senate accepted for concurrence - and the House concurred.

Reports on petition of John Watts & als on petition of Isaac Sturdivant & als granting orders of notice, came from the Senate accepted for concurrence - and the House concurred.

Reports on petition of John Gray & al on petition of Trustees of Gardiner Lyceum granting leave for Bills, came from the Senate accepted for concurrence - and the House concurred.

Ordered that the Committee on New Trials be instructed to enquire into the expediency of authorizing the Justices of the Courts of Sessions and the Selectmen of towns when called upon to open public Highways where the lands reserved for that purpose are unfit or the public good requires that they should be opened through the lots to convey to the owners of those lots the gangways adjoining them at their just valuation as compensation for damages sustained - read & passed.
