Ordered that Messrs Snow of Frankfort, Eveleth of Windham & Chase of Unity be a committee with such as the Senate may join to take into consideration what if any alteration is necessary in the act concerning the assessment & collection of taxes - read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.

Ordered that the committee on the subject of Courts of Sessions be requested to report as soon as may be. read & passed. sent up for concurrence.

Bill to annex Daniel Shaw to the town of Westbrook, was read a 3d time & passed to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.

Bill to incorporate the town of Whiting, was read a 3d time & passed to be engrossed. Sent up for concurrence.

The Committee on the subject of the incorporation of the East River Sluice Company reported a Bill - report accepted.

Bill in additional to an act to incorporate the East River Sluice Company was read 1st&2d time & tomorrow at 10 oclock assigned for a 3d reading.

The Committee on engrossed Bills reported as duly engrossed, Resolve relative to the Printing for the State - - relating to Genl. LaFayette. which were finally passed. Sent up for concurrence.

The House reconsidered their vote assigning today, and assigned 8th FebYnext to come to the choice of a Major General for 8th Division.

Petition of Joseph Chandler & als for a Bank at Augusta, referred in Senate to the committee on Banks & Banking came down for concurrence & the House concurred.
