Dear Sir I under- stand that the 2nd Maine Regiment is going to be filled up to [NOTE: can not determine the word following "to"] and that they are to be enlisted here. I wish to say to you that I wish you to authorize one to enlist them. and I will take charge of them myself and go to the seat of war with them; my self. I live here in the city.
