In For Corocoran Va Augt 26th 1861 Hoad [Ins] 2nd Regiment Maine Vols.

Boney Shepley. of Bangor. enlisted June 29- by J.C Stevens. Laborer. 21 years of age. 5 ft 11 inches high + black eyes. black hair[. fair complexion and Harry H. Mayville of Bangor. enlisted July 1st by J.C Stevens. a Blacksmith. born in Baring County of Washington Maine. 20 years of age 5 foot 6 inches high. blue eyes. brown hair. fair complexion. have deserted together. they left Augt 21st and are probably making towards Bangor, they belonged to Co. K.

This Regiment now has the duty of defending Fort Corcoran. + companies inside 4 outside in rear - [-] outside on the right. [men] are better [contented] . everything looks better. good prospect of a fight. they think. the description roll of the last recruits is needed badly.
