Bangor Aug 25th 1861

Sunday eve

Hon. I. Washburn Jr.

Dear Sir

Dr. McRuer wrote me under[?] date of 18th [?] that his Commission with 2nd Maine had expired but that he had written you he would give his services until he heard from you Under[?] same[?] date he wrote Doctr [?] the same, and expressed a hope that I should be induced to[?] take[?] the place I should have been ready to start tomorrow (Monday) morning but concluded I would[?] not start until I[?] had further[?] orders[?] from you as[?] you had receivec “direct information” from Doctr. McR. I shall undoubtedly be ready to go on Tuesday Morning, and will do if I hear from you by mail monday evening, and you desire it shall I be able to remain ever[?] at Augusta a[?] can[?] I proceed[?] directly[?] in the case?
