I have the honor to in form [inform] you that there is a little difficulty existing between myself & Major Gardiner. The Maj. thinks he has sufficient cause to compell my resignation ordered me to my Regt. under arrest for taking a fee of a soldier for procuring him a Town[?] bounty[?] when it was at the [?] & offer of the recruit and also of his father.
