Senate January 3d 1823.

[Senator Qualified chosen by Convention]

Edward Killeran Esq. the Senator elected by both branches of the Legislature to supply the vacancy in Lincoln District, appeared and was conducted by Mr Green to the Governor and Council, and being qualified took his seat at the board. -

[Com: to enquire what public business will be necessary to transact &c]

On motion of Mr Wilson, ordered that Messrs Wilson and Dunn, with such as the House may join be a committee to enquire what business of a public nature will be likely to come before the Legislature at its present session, other than that referred to in the Governor's message. -

Read, passed and sent down for concurrence and came up concurred and Messrs Adams Hopkins and Reed were joined.

[Resolve concerning State Printing]

Mr Green offered a resolve to authorize the Secretary of the State to procure the necessary State printing for the term of one year which was read a first time and committed to the committee on Bills in the second reading. - And 3 o'clock P.M. assigned for the second reading thereof.

[Order respecting Offices & records being kept at seat of Government]

On motion of McDonald Ordered that Messrs McDonald and Killeran with such as the House may join, be a committee to enquire into the expediency of providing by law that all the public records be kept in offices at the seat of Government. -

Read, passed and sent down for concurrence and came up concurred. -
