Dear Sir,
I forgot to mention in my letter of yesterday that Dr. Allen would like to have a revolver. Those intended for the staff have never been received and as Dr. Allen has as yet no sword, he is entirely defenceless. The staff revolvers were stolen or left at Portland. We have not seen them since we started
There is a soldier belonging to the 2d Reg. now in the jail of this city (for safe keeping) waiting for a chance to go to Washington his name is John Roach. There is also another who deserted at Newport. Willet or Willard is his name. I will arrest him and take him on to Wash. if you wish it.
