Ordered that a committee to consist of one member from each County on the part of the House, with such as the Senate may join, be a committee to consider the expediency of receiving proposals for the erection of the public buildings with a stipulation that the person or persons who contract shall receive their pay out of the public lands and that the person or persons who will undertake for the smallest quantity of land shall have the contrast provided sufficient bonds be given to the State for a faithful perfomance of the same - and Messrs M Cobb of Phipsburg. Wecks of Parsonsfield, Woodbury of Minor. Pond of Bucksport, Vance of Baring, Davee of Dover, White of Monmouth, Brisbee of Summer & Farrar of Bloomfield, were appointed on the part of the House. Sent up for concurrence.
A message was received from the Senate by Mr Hutchinson their Secretary, requesting the House to send up the Report of the select committee of both Houses on so much of the Governors messages relates to the Canada Road - The House voted to comply with said request, and the papers were sent up accordingly.
An order came from the Senate directing the joint standing Committee on State Lands to ascertain what amount of timber has been sold, under the Resolve of February 17th 1820 the manner & conditions, upon which said timber was sold & that they be further instructed, to ascertain, so far as is practicable, the amount of the nitstanding accounts, in relation to the Land Agents Department which are not included in the Auditors report, upon said Agents Account and likewise to go into a full examination of the Auditors report, and ascertain if the same be correct for concurrence and the House concurred.
